Opeth and Ihsahn at Oslo Live festival

Even if I saw them a little while ago, I was really eager to see them again. Both of their performances were amazing, so as Ihsahn was starting at 8 I started getting ready around 7 so I can leave 7.30. In half an hour the sky got totally black and when I went outside it started to pour. Everyone was running to hide from rain since nobody had umbrellas as it had been a day way too hot. When I got out from the subway nobody dared to move outside, they were all waiting at the entrance. I said ‘wtf’ and moved along since I had a jacket ;p

At the entrance they checked the ticket in a hurry and actualy looked pretty weird at me as I was the only one trying to get in…everyone was runing out. There was a woman with a huge camera who stopped and took pics of me and aske if I wasn’t afraid (there were some incredible lightnings and thunders). There was a band playing on the smal stage when I got in and few brave or maybe careless people were watching, some wearing raincoats, some too wet to care. But most of the people were packed under the tents where they were selling beer, strawberries or clothes. I joined them and when Ihsahn started, the rain magically stopped. Awesome. Was a bit wet in the feet, but didn’t matter.

Ihsan’s stage presence is absolutely incredible. They hardly do anything but headbanging or standing straight but that’s what I like when I see them live. Dunno, they’re impressive and all dressed in black like that. And as they started with Invocation, followed by Called by the fire, I was in heaven to hear 2 of my favs songs. They ended the show with the Emperor song ‘Thus spake the night spirit’ and as the rain stopped, more crowd showed up and they were thrilled to hear the song. But I admit most of the crowd wasn’t there to see them since they were pretty shocked by the black metal music on the background.

Wandered a bit around when the concert ended, had another beer, met fellow couchsurfers, heard El Caco that turned out more boring than on the CD and then finally Opeth showed up on the stage. They made the crowd go crazy when they admited Norway being the most beautiful country in Europe. But they said they come from the capital of Europe, Stockholm. Which wasn’t for everyone’s taste. Too bad he made most of the jokes in Swedish. I mean all, so I didn’t get everything. But it was really cool to hear him singing a piece of ‘Blood of my enemies’.

They changed the playlist since the last time I saw them, but still included awesome songs such as Deliverance, The lepper affinity, Ghost of perdition, the lotus eater and even a rare one live, Demon of the fall. Akerfeldt voice is amazing as always with both growling and clean so perfectly sung. They have long guitar solos during their songs and they’re boring at times, but most of the times very entertaining by mixing speedy parts with very soft and mellow bits.

I totally enjoyed them live again and even if I missed my ‘Hessian peel’, I’m sure I’ll go and see them again and again live. Hope the vids taken by my new cam have good sound.

The night had a nice end, first we went to ‘In rock’ which was quite packed but very warm so the bar tenders were only wearing bras (and stuff from the waist down, but still) and then we moved along to Dattera til Hagen to be able to stay out in the somehow fresh air. There are couchsurfers everywhere in this city.

Hey there just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t
loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show
    the same results.

Thanks for the info. Can I get an example on which photos wouldn’t load?
